Alma Alta

High-Alpine Luxury Retreat

3 Bedrooms · 3 Baths · Sleeps 8 · 3,500 sq ft

Alma, Colorado

This is not a traditional mountain cabin. It’s a thoughtfully designed modern retreat — “elegant yet warm, luxurious yet inviting” — where architecture, comfort, and landscape come together for a calm, immersive stay.  Guests consistently say it’s “even better in person than in the photos.”

When you first walk in, the space is — in the words of one guest — “almost too grand to explain.”

The Experience

From the moment you arrive, everything is designed to slow the pace of life.

Mornings begin with coffee as light moves across the surrounding peaks — views guests call “pure magic” and say photos simply don’t do justice. Days unfold with skiing at Breckenridge, hiking Colorado’s high trails, or exploring nearby mountain towns.  Evenings return you to stillness — soaking in the Bullfrog X8 on the covered patio, unwinding in the wood-fired sauna, or gathered around the firepit.

At this elevation, the environment becomes part of the experience.  Quiet.  Expansive.  Immersive.

know before you go

Altitude

Alma Alta sits at 11,300 feet.  Guests arriving from lower elevations may feel mild altitude effects on day one, and those coming from sea level may feel effects more acutely.  Arriving a day before any strenuous activity is strongly recommended.  Drink plenty of water, take it easy on arrival, and you’ll settle in quickly.

Winter Driving

From September through May, a 4WD or AWD vehicle is strongly recommended.  Roads are publicly maintained but snow and ice are common.  Recommended: Toyota 4Runner, Jeep Grand Cherokee, or any full-size AWD SUV.

Pet Policy

One dog welcome.  Pet bathroom breaks along the street or left side of the driveway — away from the hot tub, patio, and outdoor seating areas.

Security

One exterior security camera at the driveway and entry approach.  No security cameras inside the home or in private outdoor spaces.
